Game votes

When you use the game, a necessary cookie named ratherplay_vote lets us count one vote per browser per question and replace a previous answer if you change it. It lasts up to one year. The server stores your selected option with a question-specific identifier and aggregate counts. It does not store a name or email address with your vote. Clearing cookies may allow another vote, so these results are informal.

Votes remain stored to preserve game results. Contact us if you need help with a data request. Because vote identifiers differ for each question and we do not hold account details, identifying your votes may require additional information from your browser.

Preferences on your device

Local storage remembers your analytics choice, Auto-next preference, and recently seen questions. You can clear these in your browser's site settings. Game answers are not sent to analytics as answer text or selected options.

Optional analytics

If you allow analytics, we use Google Analytics to understand page visits and actions such as starting a game, answering questions, and sharing a question. Google receives browser and device information and processes connection information to provide this service. We disable advertising signals and ad personalization. Optional analytics are not loaded before consent, and are not loaded on the Kids or Teens category pages.

You can change your choice using Cookie settings in the footer. Declining analytics does not prevent playing. Learn more in Google's privacy policy.

Hosting and security

Our hosting provider processes network requests to deliver the website. The vote service does not log raw IP addresses or choices. We use temporary, in-memory IP rate limits to protect the service. Errors may be logged for troubleshooting. We do not sell personal information.

Children

The Kids collection can be used with an adult's guidance. We do not ask children for names, contact details, or other personal information. Optional analytics are disabled on Kids and Teens pages.

Your choices

You can refuse optional analytics, clear cookies and local storage, or contact us about access, correction, deletion, or an objection to processing. Depending on where you live, you may also have a right to complain to your local data protection authority.
